Статутные права, законные права. В больших магазинах на распродажах и на упаковке товаров можно увидеть слова:

'Your statutory rights are unaffected'. — «Ваши законные права не нарушены»

или

'This offer does not affect your statutory rights.' — «Это предложение не затрагивает ваших законных прав»

. Что такое эти statutory rights ? Согласно закону, принятому в 1994 г., каждый покупатель имеет право получить за свои деньги товары: – удовлетворительного качества; – совпадающие с их описанием; – выполняющие свои функции; – без мелких дефектов. В магазинах или в газетах часто делаются special offers (специальные предложения), предлагаются discounts (скидки), sale goods (товары для распродажи); в этом случае из-за низких цен продавцы не очень добросовестно соблюдают положенные правила. Им нужно напоминать, что сохранение statutory rights покупателя гарантировано законом. Можно обращаться к местным trading standards officers (инспектора торговых стандартов), сотрудникам муниципалитета, если есть подозрение, что законные права нарушены.
